Twelve Nine Oh-Seven

Hi Everybody!

Wow, three months have gone by already... An update on life.. things are pretty good overall, except with work, which has been kind of stressful. Have been studying a lot and working hard with some good results.. the next two months will be tough as well until our annual exam but I'll just keep at it. Otherwise, Amy is spectacular, I've had a chance to go up to visit twice and she's come down twice since September. The roommates are good.. Harsha's decided to stay another year as Chief Resident so we don't have to worry about finding another roommate and Jeff is doing excellent, already thinking about moving up to SF.. Anyway, hope everyone is well and happy holidays to all! Drop me an email or call when you can!

For my birthday this year, we had a two pronged celebration. A bunch of us went out to Japanese for dinner one day (for some reason, all the pictures came out blurry that evening.. no it was not the sake)..

Then the week after we went for a hike in the Santa Monica mountains. Found this very pretty two level waterfall after a moderately easy hike..

I went up to SF to visit and see old friends. Here's Amy with a couple of cute little gund bears...

Met with with the ol' Jorge Castellanos, who was kind enough to let us crash at his place for a couple nights. In thanks, I sent him a magazine subscription of Latina for a year.. wonder if he's gotten that yet? :) Gloria and Amy Lee at our Korean dinner..

Later we went to Indian in the mission with the ol' Norcal crew..

It's always the Ray Cho makin' trouble.. we went out to a bar after our dinner and this is the second time I got kind of wasted because of him. I didn't throw up this time but Amy had to help me up the stairs :p that darn Cho..

Before I left, Amy and I went to an Asian buffet that had a fondue fountain... as you can tell, she's pretty happy with her soft serve ice cream dipped in chocolate.

Harsha and I also went on this Malibu Creek Hike after it rained.. the top picture is a closeup of a tiny puddle left on a hollowed out rock reflecting the trees above. The trail ended in a large pool surrounded by rock walls with a couple large boulders in the middle. We scattered all caution to the wind and jumped down to the boulders without a way back and later we both had to free climb like 30ft up the cliff to find a way out of there.. this is our triumphant picture after.. it was pretty cool.

We had a bit of a creative spurt in the middle of summer and got back on the painting track. I painted a Spider-Man and that's Harsha in the background painting Batman.. these will later be displayed for our Superhero themed party (date TBA).

This is Harsha (penciller) and mine (coloring) attempt at a Threadless T-shirt.. Get it? Weevil, Weevil, rock you.. :)

Hey! Can't you guys read?!? This is at the Kaiser HQ where Lin works now. This was also the weekend where I met Amy's parents and her brothers. I wasn't particularly nervous and things seemed to go pretty well at our dinner outing. Gotta keep up good relations with the fam, you know :)

On Amy's actual birthday, we went to eat at Claim Jumper's, which I remember from the old UCI days. It's kind of like Cheesecake Factory but less fancy and they give you massive amount of food. We shared a rack of baby back ribs..

Then we went back to Jen's apartment and just played board games and hung out with her friends. Amy is amazing because she's got all these friends she still knows from high school.. low key and lots of fun..

I got Amy a soft, fuzzy robe and matching socks for the winter (she likes the fuzzy stuff).. here's her about to fall asleep in the robe.

We went to get Peruvian food when Amy came down to visit a week ago.. it was the first time she tried Ceviche and it was good... two thumbs up! And, yes, if you haven't noticed, lots of our pictures are about food :)

We went to the local Toys R Us to look for a baby shower present for my friend Sinda.. but just ended up playing with the toys ourselves..

I'm ending with pictures of our downstair's neighbor's bunnies.. they roam around in our backyard all the time now and this is them trying to steal some oranges that I was picking from our tree.. Amy's deathly allergic to these guys so she likes to think the the red gleam in their eyes show their true evil nature under the fluffiness..

Hope everyone is well! Thanks for reading.. drop me an email when you can and happy holidays! -nik
